What Are Cannabinoids and what is all the Hype about?

Cannabinoid:   a type of chemical compound that is found in the cannabis plant and in our bodies.

Ccannabidiol (CBD): a cannabinoid found in cannabis.

  •     Cannabis: a type of plant that includes both hemp and marijuana.

  •     Cannabinoid: a compound that is formed in the cannabis plant, and in the body.

  •     Cannabidiol (CBD): a cannabinoid produced in cannabis.

Cannabinoids interact with our cannabinoid receptors to support regulatory functions.   Every cell, every tissue, and organ in the body has cannabinoid receptor sites to help with harmony and homeostasis within and between body systems. Scientists discovered that cannabinoid deficiencies correlate strongly to poor health and dis-ease.

Endocannabinoid System

"What is the Endocannabinoid and Phyto-cannabinoid System?"  Endocannabinoids (made in the body) and phyto-cannabinoids (from the cannabis plant) interact with receptors on all cells throughout the body - the immune system and the central nervous system.

Today we know Hemp to be one of the oldest domesticated crops known to man!

Hemp's uses have been for:

Textiles, Paper and Cordage for 1,000's of years.  A scrap of Hemp fabric was found dating back to approx 8,000 BC.

The Hemp Nut is used for Granola, Cereal, Protein Powder, Milk, Dairy Products and Much More!

The Hemp Oil is used in Body Products, Cosmetics, Dressings, Margarine, Lubricants, and MORE!  It's seeds and flowers are used in health foods, organic body care and many other nutraceuticals.

The fibers and stalks are used in hemp clothingconstruction materials, paper, biofuel, plastic composites, and more.

How is HEMP different from the psychoactive form of cannabis that is consumed medicinally and recreationally?

CB1 Receptors were first discovered in the Brain in 1988, and four years later in a Lab in Israel they discovered Anandamide, which is a cannabinoid we make naturally in our body.  In the 1990's it was discovered that Humans also have CB2 Receptors in the IMMUNE SYSTEM.  The endocannaboid system regulates most of the physiological processes in the body, so if this is out of BALANCE, then WE are out of balance and this effects everything in the body - Homeostasis can be defined as the stable condition of an organism and of its internal environment; or as the maintenance or regulation of the stable condition, or its equilibrium; or simply as the balance of bodily functions.

There are varieties of the cannabis plant and Hemp has also been referred to as an industrial hemp.

Hemp is known as the non-psychoactive (less than 1% THC). Both hemp and marijuana come from the same cannabis species.

These two plants, however, are genetically distinct and can be distinguished by use, chemical makeup, and cultivation methods and can be grown as a renewable source for Raw Materials.  These raw materials can be for 1,000's of products.

Hemp can be grown as a renewable source for raw materials that can be incorporated into thousands of products.

In the past, it's been noted by the Hemp Industries Association (HIA) that a total retail value of all hemp products sold in the U.S. to be approximately $620 million.   Unfortunately,  at that time, raw hemp materials were imported from other countries.

For our FARMER PARTNERS

Hemp doesn't require much water to grow, and basically requires NO Pesticides!

So it is much more ECO-FRIENDLY than the traditional crops!

Hemp is a wonderful rotation crop - growing Hemp Detoxifies the soil, as it breathes in CO2.  Hemp also helps prevent soil erosion, and as a result, after any harvest of Hemp, it breaks down into the soil, providing valuable nutrients.

Because hemp varieties contain virtually zero tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), your body processes it faster than if you were to smoke it.

In the past, In 1937, the Marijuana Tax Act strictly regulated the cultivation and sale of all cannabis varieties. The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 classified all forms of cannabis, including hemp as a Schedule I drug, making it illegal to grow it in the United States and this is why in the past we were forced to IMPORT hemp from other countries.  This is as long as there were only scant levels of THC (0.3% is the regulation for hemp cultivation in the E.U. and Canada).

Because of all the time that past, and generations later, most have forgotten the great industrial uses of Hemp and misidentify HEMP with Cannabis, it's cousin Marijuana.

The 2014 US Farm Bill

This Farm Bill allows states that have passed their own industrial hemp legislation to grow industrial hemp for purposes of research and development.

After many years of prohibition, American farmers are finally reacquainting themselves with industrial hemp.

In January of 2015, The Industrial Hemp Farming Act (H.R. 525 and S. 134) was introduced in the House and Senate. This would remove all federal restrictions on the cultivation of industrial hemp, and remove its classification as a Schedule I controlled substance.

Are we today, 2017, once again seeing the world’s oldest domesticated crop available to serve mankind in a wide range of Eco-Friendly ways?
